Frequently asked questions.
Short answers to the things drivers and testers ask most often.
Who is Tax Diary NZ for?
It is designed for New Zealand rideshare and delivery drivers who want to organise driver income, expenses, work kilometres, work time, tax records and supporting information in one app.
Does Tax Diary NZ file my tax return?
No. The app provides record keeping and estimates. Users remain responsible for checking their records and filing obligations, and should obtain professional advice where appropriate.
What is the difference between IRD kilometre-rate and actual-cost tracking?
The app explains both methods during onboarding and in Help & App Guide. The kilometre-rate method uses IRD rates for business kilometres; actual-cost tracking records and apportions vehicle costs. Current IRD rules should always be checked before filing.
Is my financial information visible in Driver Community?
No. Community content is separate from private driver records. Other drivers cannot access your income, expenses, tax workings, receipts or logbook records.
What happens if I lose my phone?
Tax Diary NZ supports local/export backups and an account-bound encrypted cloud recovery copy. Sign in with the same Tax Diary NZ account on a replacement device and use Backup & Restore to recover an available cloud copy.
How do I report a problem?
Use Tools → Feedback & Support inside the app. For a reproducible app defect, use Report A Bug. Login problems can be emailed to support@taxdiarynz.com.
How often are Events and Airport data updated?
They are refreshed automatically by server-side jobs. If live data appears delayed, use in-app Feedback & Support rather than reinstalling the app.
